Cosmetic Injections and their Growing Use among Men

A recent article by Dennis Thompson of HealthDay indicates that the stigma many men often associate with cosmetic enhancement treatment seems to be slowly fading away – and this is highly evident in the growing numbers of men who are undergoing certain types of cosmetic injections to rejuvenate their facial appearance.

One of the more popular injectable wrinkle reduction treatments, a solution derived from a highly purified form of clostridium botulinum bacteria, seems to be getting more common among males. An extraordinary amount of men have had the procedure performed over the last decade – a 258 percent increase from 2000 to 2010, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. That makes treatment with that particular type of injectable the number one cosmetic enhancement procedure performed in men in 2010.

The fact is, injectable wrinkle reduction can help many men who may be averse to invasive plastic surgery, but who want an effective option to smooth out lines and wrinkles along the face for a more youthful and rested appearance. Many men undergo cosmetic injections to reduce signs of crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and furrows between the brows. What may also make these treatments more appealing for men is the fact that the results are temporary, and yet can be maintained if they so choose with follow-up treatment three or four months down the road.

Cosmetic injections are simply a way for men to smooth out subtle signs of facial aging and fatigue and to feel more comfortable about their appearance.
