Earlobe reduction surgery is commonly sought by adults who were born with larger earlobes or those whose earlobes have enlarged with age. Just like noses, ears tend to grow over time, and earlobe enlargement can be accelerated by the wearing of heavy earrings.
Earlobe reduction surgery, performed by Dr. Richard Hamilton, involves reducing the size of the earlobes to make them less prominent, improving their balance with the rest of the face. Dr. Hamilton employs a modified stepplasty Wedge Reduction technique, which he personally developed. This procedure helps to create a more proportionate appearance by removing unnecessary attention from the earlobes and enhancing overall facial harmony.

Hamilton House offers specialised earlobe reduction procedures for adults born with larger earlobes or those experiencing age-related enlargement often accelerated by wearing heavy earrings.
Earlobe reduction surgery is performed at Hamilton House Plastic Surgery, a fully accredited facility by ACHS / NSQHS, licensed by SA Health Authority. The procedure is typically carried out under local anaesthesia to fully numb the earlobe area, though intravenous sedation may occasionally be used for added comfort. You will be relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure.
Before administering anaesthesia, Dr. Hamilton will carefully mark the area of the earlobe to be removed, ensuring precision throughout the surgery. The modified wedge reduction technique involves making an incision in a way that minimizes visible scarring and removes excess tissue. The earlobe is then stitched together with fine sutures for optimal cosmetic results.
Like all surgical procedures, earlobe reduction carries potential risks and complications, including:
Dr. Hamilton will discuss these risks with you thoroughly during the consultation process and ensure you are well-informed before proceeding.
