Dr. Richard Hamilton established Hamilton House Day Surgery in 1988 with a mission to provide individualized, high quality plastic surgical care to all of his patients. Hamilton House is a licensed Day Hospital under Commonwealth Government regulations and has been awarded Accreditation status by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS). ACHS is the leading independent authority on quality improvement systems for Australian Plastic Surgery facilities. The accreditation process ensures that Hamilton House complies with the rigorous Australian standards through a comprehensive quality assurance programme.

Our Facility
The atmosphere at Hamilton House has a reputation for being friendly and home-like. Hamilton House has a modern operating facilities with all the necessary medical equipment required for procedures that use local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation, and general anaesthesia, including breast enlargement, breast lift, rhinoplasty, facelift, and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). We also have a comfortable recovery room where patients are provided with tea, coffee, and sandwiches following surgery. A pleasantly decorated waiting room offers a wide range of reading material, and consulting rooms provide comfortable settings for appointments with our cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Hamilton. With all these amenities plus private patient dressing rooms, our Adelaide facility is built for your comfort, relaxation, and confidentiality.

Staff
In addition to our skilled cosmetic surgeon, Hamilton House treats patients from Adelaide and the surrounding areas with the assistance of six competent and friendly staff members, including our cosmetic patient advisor (Helen), four trained nurses, practice manager (Jette), and a receptionist. Our nursing staff have extensive nursing and surgical experience and have worked with Dr. Richard Hamilton at Hamilton House for many years so they know how well he cares for his patients and how seriously he takes his work. Our Chief Nurse Helen handles any telephone enquiries you may have about cosmetic procedures in a very confidential manner.

Consulting Hours and Appointments
Hamilton House is open during the week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or later. Preoperative consultation services are regularly provided by Dr. Hamilton at Hamilton House at Cumberland Park in Adelaide, and some country areas such as Mt. Gambier, Port Pirie, Port Augusta and the Riverland. Special considerations are given to accommodate country SA and interstate patients.
All regular appointments for Hamilton House Day Surgery are made through the receptionist, and cosmetic surgery appointments are made via the Chief Nurse or her deputy. Appointments for surgery are arranged after your first consultation with Dr. Hamilton to allow for proper planning and scheduling of your procedure. During your initial consultation, written preoperative information sheets will be provided to help you better understand your cosmetic plastic procedure. A general practitioner referral letter is always advisable and necessary for non-cosmetic issues.
Hamilton House performs emergency and injury procedures during normal hours, and Dr. Richard Hamilton and his nursing staff provide all the postoperative care at Hamilton House.

Payment Options
Accounts for non cosmetic surgery are normally issued after the procedure. Cosmetic surgery is an exception, as Medicare and health fund rebates do not normally apply, so these fees are prepaid. An information sheet detailing the account system is forwarded to the patient along with the account for the initial consultation.
Hamilton House has an agreement with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) and all Hospital Funds. Prior to surgery, patients are asked to clarify their private hospital coverage details or DVA status.
Uninsured patients pay a Day Surgery Theatre Fee to cover the costs of using the operating theatre facility at Hamilton House.
Hamilton House Day Surgery accepts cash, postal orders, cheques, and most credit cards.
